All of Chi’s warm up fixtures to date have been behind-closed-doors but the announcement by the government last week means we can look forward to the return of spectators at Oaklands Park very soon.
Miles Rutherford’s men end their pre-season campaign with two friendlies against local step three opposition with Worthing and Bognor Regis Town both visiting Oaklands Park in the next ten days.
The Mackerel Men will head west along the A27 on Tuesday (1/9) to face Chi for the second time during pre-season. Worthing were late replacements for Littlehampton in the Dave Kew Memorial trophy, beating City 4-2 before claiming the trophy with another high-scoring victory (6-4) over Pagham on Sunday.
Rutherford will be hoping his team put on a better showing this time around, more like they did last pre-season when the two sides played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Oaklands when Callum Overton scored a hat-trick of headers against one of his former clubs.
As per the guidelines, capacity for the fixture will be limited to 200 with entry only permitted with a pre-bought ticket.
Just three days later the club welcomes local friends Bognor Regis Town to Oaklands Park on Friday 4th September, 7:45pm kick-off.
It will be the second consecutive year that Chi have ended their pre-season campaign against the Rocks having narrowly lost the Sussex Community Shield to Jack Pearce’s side twelve months ago.
In the same vein to the meeting with Worthing the capacity for this fixture will be limited however this time up to 400 spectators who have pre-bought tickets will be allowed.
Confirmation that both fixtures will be strictly all ticket.
Additional procedures will be in place to allow for the safe return of supporters.
Food and drink must be purchased via the club2app, which is available to download on the App Store and Google Play Store. Once your order is confirmed head to either the tea hut or bar to collect.
Please be aware the club will now be operating a no cash policy and will only take payments via contactless.
Additional toilets will be available on the far side of the ground and hand sanitising stations will be found at various locations around the facility.
The team still have two more away friendlies to fulfil prior to the return to Oakland Park. The first, originally arranged for this evening now takes place tomorrow at Baffins Milton Rovers, 7:45pm kick-off.
Then on Saturday they travel to Alford to take on the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division side.
The season will finally begin on Saturday 12th September with the return to FA Cup action. Chi will travel to either Basingstoke Town or Bournemouth Poppies, who go up against each other in the Extra Preliminary Round on Tuesday 1st September.
The Isthmian League is set to begin on Saturday 19th September with fixtures expected to be announced shortly.
