Chi came into the game on the back of that disappointing Isthmian Premier division league match at home to Hashtag United last time out. Emmett Dunn returned to the starting XI following a one game suspension at right back and joined keeper Kieran Magee, Ben Pashley, stand-in skipper Ryan Davidson and left back Isaac Bello in the back four. Joe Moore lined up in his customary position as holding player in midfield alongside Lloyd Rowlatt, Joe Clarke, Mo Jammah and Ethan Prichard with Jimmy Wild up top.

Clarke got a talking to by referee Adam Merchant in the first minute for a foul on Joel Colbran before Pashley was well up moments later to clear as the Sussex visitors pressed once more.

Prichard then won Chi a corner in the next attack which he delivered and the Rebels cleared.

Magee played the ball nicely to Prichard who tried to pick out Wild but Worthing No1 Chris Haigh cut this out easily enough.

The away side lost the ball at the back and Mr Merchant dismissed Wild’s appeals for a penalty after he was tackled, and Dunn conceded a throw following neat play from Tommy Willard and Nicky Wheeler on the other side.

Sam Beard’s cut back was cut out by Clarke when Jack Bates and Jack Spong linked up and Moore was in effectively on Mo Faal

Next, Cashman and Wheeler threatened although the ball went out for a goal kick.

Faal’s shot got saved by Magee and finally collected after a drive down the left wing.

Another move on this flank led to a poor effort that went well wide of Magee’s right-hand stick 11 minutes in before Chi tidied up when Cashman made an error.

Magee had a cross from the left to gather before clearing Colbran’s pass into No9 Faal.

The Chi custodian then found an advanced Dunn but the cross came to nothing.

Another Rebels’ move fizzled out and Faal headed over the bar.

No way through for Worthing’s Mo Faal

It wasn’t all Worthing by any means and Jammeh and Bello combined to set Wild up for a chance that he couldn’t quite steer in.

A foul on Rowlatt got overlooked but not Clarke’s challenge on Spong for which the ref awarded a free kick.

The Reds were flagged offside in their next break before Jammeh capitalised on a mistake at the back and found Prichard who put Chi one up much to the delight of the home fans in the 1100 crowd.

Pashley headed safely back to his keeper and Wheeler was impeded by Wild for Beard to take the set-piece.

Pashley cleared again and a penalty shout was overlooked before Prichard tried his luck again and Haigh held on to a Wild go too.

And then a Pashley slip led to the equaliser with Faal lobbing Magee clinically on the half hour.

A long throw from Bello was claimed by Haigh and Cashman drove into the box only for Pashley to cut out a ball intended for Faal.

Prichard tried his luck from some way out on 35.

Next, Davidson headed over a deflected Joe Cook cross for a corner which Cashman took and picked out Willard moments later but he couldn’t really get hold of it.

First Wild, and then Prichard had shots saved by Haigh and Magee wasn’t troubled by Bates’ attempt on 39.

Haigh beats Jimmy Wild to the one on one

Wild had another go 60-seconds later as we approached half time and Haigh claimed a cross from the left easily enough.

Then Prichard intercepted a poor clearance only for Haigh to palm the effort over for a corner which was fired deep by the Chi No11 for Davidson to head out.

Faal delivered at the other end looking for Willard but Pashley, up against one of his former clubs, turned it out for a corner kick before Alfie Young was booked late on for catching Rowlatt.

Neither side made any changes at the break and Chi forged another opportunity when Clarke found a marauding Dunn for a cross which Wild headed narrowly over.

Clarke’s next ball towards his striker in the consequent move was just too long and Haigh collected.

The midfielder then failed to trouble the Worthing No1 after both Rowlatt and his teammate Dunn battled for the ball down the right.

The visitors broke but the final pass to Willard was too long.

Next, Moore found Bello advancing down the left wing although the Rebels repelled things and Wheeler’s effort was easy for Magee.

The Chi keeper made an excellent save to deny Willard turning the ball out for a corner which got cleared for another on the other side.

Cashman took this and Colbran gave his side a 2-1 lead on 52 minutes.

Jammeh then picked Wild but his cross was a bit wayward and Moore nodded back to Magee at the other end.

Bello went on a super run down the left wing before Chi won a corner on the College Lane side and another which Prichard took again and Haigh punched away.

Magee gathered as things heated up and Moore wasn’t far off getting to a Jammeh cross.

Wheeler had a shot diverted for a corner on the hour and Prichard almost got in as Beard made a rare mistake.

Then Wild, Dunn and Jammeh tried to hook up and Moore joined Young in Mr Merchant’s book.

Both sides exchanged free kicks in the following few minutes before Cashman had a corner headed wide.

Temi Babalola came on for goal scorer Faal on 72 and forced a save out of Magee almost immediately.

Jammeh headed away and Magee claimed a cross from the left.

Wild got a talking too as well after combining with Dunn, and Magee intervened to deny Babalola and Willard.

Wild attempted to feed Prichard with 15 to go and Chi earned a throw.

This came to nothing but the hosts won a corner when Wild and Prichard teed Moore up for a shot.

Clarke got a firm header to this and Dunn latched on to the resulting loose ball and smashed it in to make the score 2-2.

Emmett Dunn makes it 2-2

Olly Munt came on for Moore for the final eight minutes or so of normal time.

Colbran was cautioned on 83, and Davidson, and then Jammeh, cleared as Willard crossed.

Babalola fired off target just before Cashman scored what proved to be the winner from close range.

Chichester kept going and a Munt delivery was turned out for corner which Prichard took and Babalola steered out for another one.

Prichard whipped this over as well and Pashley nearly tied it up with a bullet header but it wasn’t to be.

Chi welcome high-fliers Billericay Town to Oaklands Park next on Saturday 23rd November (Kick Off 3pm) in the league.
