There was just the one change to the Chi starting XI which lined up in that 2-1 victory away at Carshalton after Christmas as Prichard, who scored the late winner there, returned for Mo Jammeh.

Isaac Bello impeded former Chichester player Dion Jarvis in the opening minute and the hosts won a throw in treacherous conditions as Tommy Block, Harvey Whyte and Dan Gifford combined after the resulting free-kick.

Rowlatt then picked Bello as the visitors pressed early doors but keeper Ryan Hall was out effectively to clear before Jarvis broke down the left and Worthing loanee Ollie Starkey was flagged offside.

Next, Clarke hooked up with Bello who tried to find Wild but Hall was attuned to the forward pass and Bognor won a couple of throw-ins.

The home side earned a corner in the fifth minute off Ryan Davidson which Matt Burgess, who scored what proved to be a consolation in the reverse 2-1 loss at Oaklands Park back in August, took and a shot deflected off a Bognor player for a goal kick.

Chi earned one of their own on the left-hand side which Rowlatt delivered and Davidson had a chance but it similarly went out for a goal kick.

Kieran Magee, between the sticks at the other end, gathered ahead of a pass to Block and instigated a quick break where Davidson played the ball intelligently to Bello who then moved it on swiftly to Rowlatt to bag the opener with a neat finish – his third goal in five games.

Moments later Magee and Curtis Da Costa had to be alert and clear as Bognor pressed and Prichard got fouled but struck his set piece way over the bar.

Chi skipper Rob Hutchings was caught in the next move and Block received a booking. However, Ben Pashley’s subsequent free-kick went out for a goal kick.

Then Hutchings found Wild, although his cross was gathered easily enough by Hall.

Bello tidied up and won Chichester a goal kick after Chad Field and Jarvis worked the ball down the left.

How Jasper Mather missed in Bognor’s next attack is anybody’s guess when all he had to do was just roll the ball in.

Da Costa made a tackle as Starkey and Jarvis attacked and captain Calvin Davies was booked for a challenge on Bello before Davidson was yellow carded as things unsurprisingly heated up.

Davies delivered the resulting set piece and a teammate headed wide for a Chi goal kick.

Pashley made a telling touch to cut out a forward pass as Bognor tried to launch another attack and Prichard’s cross flew off an opponent and into Hall’s arms.

The Bognor keeper was out efficiently to concede a throw in the next Chichester break which Bello took long and the hosts cleared.

Rowlatt and Wild attempted to get the visitors going again but the ball drifted out for a goal kick.

Da Costa hit it off Mather for a throw and Prichard teed up Wild who lost the ball in the box.

Next, Davies was caught by Clarke and the following delivery from the left was claimed by Magee.

Hutchings was unfairly tackled by Whyte and Davidson picked Wild who won a corner which Hutchings took and Clarke smashed the ball into the bottom corner on the turn to double the lead five minutes before the break.

Starkey was then cautioned for a foul on Wild and Hutchings got in effectively to feed Bello who took on Jarvis and won a throw in.

Da Costa headed it out for a corner on 42 which Burgess once again took and Davidson made a decent connection to powerfully clear.

Clarke steered the ball out for another corner after a cross from the right but the kick was poor and just went into the side-netting.

And in two minutes of additional time Wild had a shot which went out for a corner that came to nothing.

After the restart Hutchings won a throw off Spencer Spurway and Clarke and Wild tried to combine but the final pass was misplaced.

And then following good work from Clarke, Prichard extended Chi’s lead with a fine finish.

Bognor pulled one back from Mather two minutes later however and Jarvis won a free kick that Davies took and the ball was eventually driven into the side-netting.

Next, a neat twist and turn from Bello and pass to Wild set a chance for Rowlatt but he couldn’t make the final touch.

Magee then threw out to Hutchings who played in Prichard for Spurway to concede a throw.

Bognor got flagged offside on the hour mark and Pashley cut out a move involving Dan Gifford.

Magee saved with his feet as Mather pressed once again and Davies took the following corner.

This went over everyone and Magee finally punched clear.

Doug Tuck came on for Block on 62 and Field hit a through ball that was too long before Wild scored his 22nd of the season in all competitions to make it 4-1 in the 63rd minute after nice play from former Bognor player Emmett Dunn.

Jammeh replaced Rowlatt on 64 minutes and Wild was fouled by Whyte.

Hutchings headed away and sub Tuck lifted one over after the ball was half cleared.

Bognor introduced Lewis Beale and Tommy-Lee Higgs for Mather and Gifford before Clarke was cautioned in the 73rd minute.

Tuck hit another one wide of the mark after Beale cut it back to him and Jammeh headed the following corner clear.

Joe Moore came on for Da Costa and Pashley did brilliantly to win Chi a goal kick holding off Beale resolutely.

Wild flicked on to Prichard at the other end and Burgess pulled one wide as the hosts sought to get back into it and we entered the final 10 minutes of normal time.

Prichard latched on to a Bognor slip as the conditions worsened but couldn’t beat Hall from distance.

Next, a ball to Prichard was just too firm before Olly Munt came on for the Chi No11 and Jamie Horncastle replaced Clarke.

Lovely skill from Bello saw him draw a foul ahead of Lewis Rustell being introduced for top scorer Wild on 89.

Some nice defending from Davidson saw him hit a long ball as the visitors won a throw and then Jammeh found Rustell with a super pass and Hall somehow got a glove on his effort which seemed destined for the back of the net.

The resulting corner was taken by Munt for another on the other side with the last kick of the game.

The win, Chi’s fourth in a five-match unbeaten run, takes them up to seventh spot while Bognor remain rock bottom with only two points from the last 10 games.

Next up is Chatham Town at Oaklands Park on Saturday 4th January (Kick Off 3pm).

Chichester – Magee, Davidson, Hutchings, Dunn, Da Costa, Pashley, Rowlatt, Clarke, Wild, Bello, Prichard. (Horncastle, Munt, Moore, Jammeh. Rustall)
