There was just the one change to the Chi starting XI that beat Bowers & Pitsea at Oaklands Park last time out with Mo Jammeh replacing Rowlatt in midfield.
Ryan Davidson won a throw in the second minute which he took before the hosts rebuilt and earned a free kick 60 seconds or so later.
A Dulwich mistake allowed top scorer Jimmy Wild in in the next move to look for fellow forward Ethan Prichard whose eventual cross was gathered easily enough by Dillon Barnes in the Hamlet goal.
Next, Wild flashed one across the posts and the ball went out for the first corner of the match which skipper Rob Hutchings delivered only for it to be headed out for a goal kick.
Hutchings then conceded a throw after Aaron Williams-Bushell, Michael Chambers and Ryley Scott combined.
The home side had a blatant handball overlooked by referee Paul Stratton as they sought to advance and Ben Pashley headed safely back to his keeper Kieran Magee.
Hutchings broke down the left flank and Williams-Bushell won a free kick for the hosts before Jerome Binnom-Williams came out on top up against Prichard.
Emmett Dunn then gave away a foul and Prichard and Isaac Bello got Chi going once again for a throw which Chambers conceded.
Bello launched this long and it went out for a second Chichester corner that Prichard took and Dulwich cleared without any trouble.
Hassan Ibrahiym moved down the wing only for Pashley to tidy up again.
Dunn hooked the ball out for a throw and both sides exchanged three offsides.
Next, Scott played a through pass but it was simple for Magee to cut out.
A super ball from Pashley sent Bello away but he was outmuscled by Chambers at the back.
George Porter’s cross was poor minutes later and went out for a goal kick before Binnom-Williams picked up the game’s only yellow card for catching Bello.
Prichard found Wild with his set piece but his header was held by Barnes.
Ross Marshall snuffed out the danger posed by Bello and Prichard in the following Chi attack and the Hamlet No16 was impeded by Wild.
A foul on Hutchings as the hosts attacked was dismissed and Hutchings won a corner at the other end before Scott couldn’t find the well-placed Porter.
Centre back Curtis Da Costa then was efficient in dealing with Deon Moore up front and midfielder Joe Clarke got away with one after a mistake by Dunn.
A shot from distance forced Magee into a save of sorts on the half hour mark, Chichester finally cleared though, before Davidson was fouled by Scott.
Then Luke Wanadio took a set piece and Magee collected.
A back pass by Ross Marshall nearly caught Barnes out on 33 and Chi won a throw minutes later.
It was all a bit cagey, to be honest, as both sides tested each other out.
Prichard then fired one into the side-netting and Dulwich tidied up as the Chi No11 almost got in following a lovely Bello twist and turn.
The hosts defended resolutely when Hutchings and Prichard pressed, and Jammeh did well to pressurize Williams-Bushell whose cross went out for a City goal kick as we headed towards half time.
Prichard hit one narrowly wide after a decent Bello cross and Barnes gathered a Chi corner just before the whistle went for the break.
It wasn’t goalless for long after the restart as Wild broke the deadlock two minutes in, cutting inside and smashing the ball in off the right-hand post – his 24th goal in all competitions this term.
However, Dulwich equalised through Porter following a quick break where Pashley was caught out as Porter and Williams-Bushell linked up.
A Pashley clearance then got charged down by an opposing player but it went out for a goal kick.
Jammeh cleared effectively as the hosts probed again and good harrying by Chi snuffed out a decent Hamlet move.
Wild pressed on 57 but Marshall did well to win a goal kick.
Prichard struck one off target ahead of the hour mark and Wild was adjudged offside in Chichester’s next attack after Jammeh and Prichard exchanged passes.
Next, Prichard lost control of the ball after a neat one-two between Hutchings and Jammeh and Pashley nearly picked Dunn with an inviting pass that Barnes got to first.
Hutchings went down and earned a rather fortunate free kick that he took himself and Prichard had a good hit but Chi were deemed offside.
Bello looked to have been caught on the head by Williams-Bushell as the visitors sought to get going again.
Prichard took the resulting free kick and Chambers conceded a corner that Bello took and Hutchings tried his luck with a decent effort that won another corner on the other side.
The home side cleared this one and Marshall and Williams-Bushell combined only for Jammeh to block, and Hutchings shepherded the ball comfortably back to Magee
Pashley did brilliantly up against Wanadio as the hosts pressed and his fellow centre back Da Costa intercepted a Moore cross.
Rowlatt came on for Jammeh with 15 minutes of normal time remaining as the away team rang the changes.
And then Wild fizzed a shot narrowly wide on 76 before Da Costa, Davidson, Wild and Dunn hooked up for a Prichard go that wasn’t far off.
Bello was the next Chi player to try his luck but Barnes made an impressive save.
Prichard delivered the resulting corner and Hutchings fired one over the bar.
Lorenzo replaced Ibrahiym for the London side before a combination of Pashley, Hutchings and Magee cleared for a Hamlet throw.
Chichester forced a couple more corners and Barnes twice denied Da Costa and then Rowlatt as City caused problems in the box.
Barnes went down for some physio treatment after this and the hosts made a double substitution.
Some last-ditch defending saw Chi clear as Jordan Wynter and sub Kreshnic Krasniqi threatened before Sean Bonnett-Johnson was flagged offside.
We went into seven minutes of time added on with both teams searching for the winner.
Good defending from Pashley kept Dulwich at bay and Prichard lifted the ball on to the top of the net after a Hutchings’ attempt.
And then Rowlatt crashed home the winner with practically the last kick of the game to send the away fans in the impressive crowd of 3,334 at Champion Hill into raptures.
Next up is Wingate & Finchley at Oaklands on Saturday 1st February (Kick Off 3pm).
Chichester – Magee, Davidson, Hutchings, Dunn, Da Costa, Pashley, Bello, Clarke, Wild, Jammeh, Prichard. (Moore, Munt, Bennett, Rowlatt, Scrimshaw)
