There was just the one change in the Chi starting XI which won 2-1 at Dulwich Hamlet last time out. Lloyd Rowlatt who scored a dramatic 97th minute winner in that game came back into midfield for Mo Jammeh.

The hosts conceded a corner early-doors and then Wild and Ethan Prichard hooked up but the final through ball towards Isaac Bello was cut out.

Bello then took a long throw and holding midfielder Emmett Dunn got caught, although the referee overlooked an advantage and awarded a free kick.

Chichester won a couple more throw-ins and Rowlatt was well in on Ayo Tanimowo to give away a Wingate throw.

Next, Prichard played the ball in but Ben Frempah headed clear before danger man Ogo Obi, who looked offside to be honest, cracked one just wide.

Wild missed a chance to shoot himself as he elected to pass to Prichard and Joe Clarke made a brilliant headed interception as the visitors sought to break.

Andronicos Georgiou’s cross was dealt with by Rowlatt who played in Prichard as the opening 10 minutes swung this way and that.

Another Bello bomb was cleared and he tried to deliver it back in only for the North London side to concede a corner.

Skipper Rob Hutchings whipped this over and Wild got on the end of it to notch his 25th goal of the campaign in all competitions.

Parity was restored for the Blues moments later however through Obi after a defensive slip.

The visitors drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in September courteous of a 93rd minute Tanimowo equaliser so things looked ominous.

Obi then got away with one after fouling Ben Pashley before Hutchings was floored as well – again no booking from referee Mr Dunn.

Toby Byron up against Prichard gave away a throw in City’s next attack which Bello launched into the box to earn Chi a corner.

Super determination by Clarke saw him finally get a forward ball off towards Rowlatt, although this was cut out.

Next, Obi went on a probing run and squared for the Chichester back line to turn it away at the midpoint.

Keeper Kieran Magee got the ball at the second attempt before Dunn was caught by Jaiden Drakes-Thomas and Hutchings tackled Rhamar Garrett-Douglas magnificently.

Magee then received a lengthy dose of physio and when things resumed right back Ryan Davison won a throw that Bello launched deep into the box.

The Chi No7 got fouled in the next move and Hutchings fired the resulting set-piece over for a goal kick.

Wild dragged one wide on 33 and Pashley was in superbly to deny Obi.

Moments later Georgiou tried his luck up against Hutchings who shepherded the ball out for a goal kick before, after a nice flick from Prichard, Drakes-Douglas whipped a decent cross over that neither Tanimowo nor Obi could profit from.

Prichard had a go on 38 but he didn’t get over it enough and it went out for a goal kick.

Wingate keeper Matteo Salamon then dealt with a Bello opportunity easily enough and Da Costa looked to have won the ball fairly in a challenge with Obi but was surprisingly given the game’s first yellow card anyway.

Georgiou struck the subsequent set-piece into the wall as we headed into five minutes or so of additional time.

Wingate earned a corner kick which Rowlatt headed clear and Byron had a go.

Hutchings went down for some time following a transgression and Prichard took the resulting free kick.

Both Dunn and Pashley got on the ball before Da Costa gave Chi the lead from close range on the stroke of half time.

A combination of Frempah and Salamon cleared as Chi pressed straight after the interval, as did Clarke and Bello at the other end.

Next, Bello got impeded for a free kick and Wingate won one of their own before Da Costa and Davidson cleared the danger posed by Obi once again.

MOM Pashley made another lovely tackle on 51 as the visitors sought to get back into the game and Bello hit one over the frame of the goal after Hutchings, Rowlatt and Prichard combined.

A well-timed Hutchings’ challenge resulted in Wild almost getting in and Ben Watt rifled the ball into the area only for Magee to claim.

Camilo Restrepo then hooked up with Obi and shot over the bar at the Archery End before catching Davidson for a booking.

Nice play from Prichard won the home side a set-piece which Hutchings took and a Dunn cross came to nothing.

Hutchings challenged Tanimowo brilliantly on the hour mark and Prichard fizzed a corner over which Davidson couldn’t finish.

Captain Loic Hernandez was yellow carded for a crude challenge to break up Bello’s run on 62; Dunn was well in moments later; and Restrepo was replaced by Alex Solomon.

Tanimowo then won a corner before heading across only for the ball to be cleared by Hutchings.

Next, the Chi skipper was booked for bringing down Drakes-Thomas and Joe Moore came on for Dunn as the Sussex side rang the changes with 20 minutes to go.

Hutchings did well to shrug off an opponent and Mo Jammeh replaced Rowlatt.

A Prichard cross got steered out for a corner on 74 which Hutchings delivered and won another one off Byron following a clever cross.

Prichard took this short to Hutchings but Salamon collected the consequent delivery.

Wild then intercepted after Wingate swept the ball around only for Frempah to recover and concede a throw.

Ore Bello spurned a golden opportunity to level dragging his effort wide of the post and fellow sub Ryan Lowe had a corner smuggled away by the ‘You Shall Not Pass’ Chi back line.

New signing Charlie Bennett came on for Clarke, and Davidson had to retake a Chichester free-kick.

Wild’s square ball on 86 won the home team a late corner which Prichard took before being substituted by Jake Scrimshaw.

Davidson tried his luck with another header getting on the end of a Bello throw but to no avail.

Bello then won a stoppage time corner which Hutchings took and Wingate cleared as the clock ticked down.

Olly Munt was introduced to replace Bello and both Munt and Pashley hooked away as the Blues threatened.

Mr Dunn brandished two yellow cards to both dugouts and Jammeh earned Chichester a throw on the College Lane flank before the final whistle eventually went after seven minutes of time added on.

Next up is Folkestone Invicta away on Saturday 8th February (Kick Off 3pm).

Chichester – Magee, Davidson, Hutchings, Dunn, Da Costa, Pashley, Bello, Clarke, Wild, Rowlatt, Prichard. (Munt, Moore, Bennett, Jammeh, Scrimshaw)
