Miles Rutherford, Danny Potter and Dabba had to make two changes to the starting XI that held league leaders Dartford in a goalless encounter away midweek with influential midfielders Emmett Dunn and Joe Clarke absent. Moore came into the holding role alongside Charlie Bennett.
Chi have had some right old runs in away at Cray in the league but lost the reverse fixture this year 2-1 to last season’s Isthmian South East champions at their place, and haven’t had a lot of joy against them at Oaklands Park over time.
Here, skipper Rob Hutchings made a convincing header and Moore hooked clear in the opening minute before right back Ryan Davidson was fouled by Kenny Aileru.
Then Marcel Barrington crossed and Davidson cleared as the visitors probed once again.
A tussle with Barrington resulted in a subsequent Hutchings’ delivery which led to the hosts winning the first corner of the match which Ethan Prichard took and the Millers’ backline repelled.
Cray’s keeper Harrison Chamberlain had a save to make seven minutes in to deny Hutchings and his team broke down the left only for Moore to get a tackle in and concede a throw.
Next, Man of the Match Sonny Black carved open the centre of the park and found an onside Barrington who expertly slid the ball under Kieran Magee for the opening goal.
The Chi custodian then cleared in the 13th minute and Black had an effort blocked by Lloyd Rowlatt – no handball according to referee Joe Wright.
Barrington crossed 60 seconds or so later but the Sussex side smuggled away easily enough as the game rocked back and forth.
Magee had to save after Barrington threw the ball in for a Black header, and his defender Davidson then headed safely back to him when Tom Chambers, Dan Bowry exchanged passes in a neat move.
Davidson steered it out for a throw to deny a Freddie Parker cross and Moore intercepted the following pass.
Centre back Ben Pashley was fouled by Parker and Hutchings headed away a Barrington delivery as we approached the half hour mark.

Prichard sent Isaac Bello off on a run but the Chi No7 eventually lost control and impeded Chamberlain.
Pashley, Bello and Prichard combined as the Lillywhites rebuilt from the back and another slick move between Hutchings and top scorer Jimmy Wild resulted in Prichard firing one over the bar.
Curtis Da Costa and Bello then hooked up but the final cross was easy for Chamberlain to gather.
Kurt Cumberbatch went off for some treatment in the 36th minute and Wild was adjudged to have fouled although the set piece got dealt with by the Oaklands outfit without any trouble.
Next, Rowlatt, Prichard and Hutchings linked up to earn Bello a customary long throw before winning a corner from which debutant Bennett gleefully headed in the equaliser.

Chambers tried to cross as the Paper Mills pressed but Davidson made a block before a minute into added time Black scored an outrageous goal in off the post to make it 2-1.
The visitors started the second half brightly as well and a Tom Beere free kick got headed away for a corner before Parker pressed and Rowlatt hooked clear.
Another cross caused Magee little trouble though and the away side won a couple of throws in a five-minute spell.
Cray Valley sub Michael Ademiluyi had an effort blocked and Prichard was flagged offside when Wild and Moore looked to get things going for Chi.
Barrington then beat two players and got a cross off but the defence cleared and at the Tennis Club end the hosts won a corner which Hutchings took after Bennett and Rowlatt exchanged passes.
The ball came out to Prichard from this but he lifted his shot way over the bar.
Moore was pulled down for a Chichester set piece which Hutchings took and on the hour Parker intercepted with Prichard threatening.
Beere took a corner which went out for another on the other side that the backline also cleared.
Barrington hit one into the sidenetting and Mo Jammeh came on for Rowlatt on 68.
Bello got impeded and the ball fell to Jammeh from the resulting free kick but his attempt was charged down.
Davidson saw a cross intercepted; Bello blazed a shot over; and Moore went into the book for an unfair tackle on Chambers.
Chi spurned an opportunity to equalise after impressive stuff from Davidson and Prichard before good work from Black and Parker led to a Millers’ corner when Magee interceded.
Jammeh cleared this without any problems and Jake Scrimshaw replaced Bennett for the last 10 or so.
Prichard overlooked a chance to release, and a Moore effort was deflected out for a corner as the home team sought a leveller.
The visitors pressed again but City were in no mood for charity.
Hutchings got caught for a set piece which came to nothing and a lucky break allowed Ademiluyi to play in a teammate but he lost the ball.

Prichard won a corner which Hutchings delivered before it was headed out for another, and Moore got to the loose ball ahead of everyone to make it 2-2.
He might have grabbed the winner too but his effort nicked off an opposition player for a corner.
As usual, Hutchings took this and then the following one as the hosts looked for that all important fifth goal.
The London side won a free kick for a foul on Black in the first minute of seven added on and were flagged offside three times as they also pressed but it finally ended with the spoils being shared.
So, Chichester remain seventh in the table and travel to Hashtag United on Saturday 22nd February (Kick Off 3pm).
