The two sides couldn’t be separated after 90 minutes, and the game was decided by a penalty shootout. Elinor Williams and Lisbeth Mottashed saw their penalties saved and it was AFC Bournemouth Development who won the semi-final.
Chi had the first chance of the game when Mottashed met Morgan Bond’s corner but could only head wide.
The Cherries then had their first opportunity which also saw a header go wide of the target.
The hosts won a free-kick on the left wing and M.Bond’s attempt almost found the far corner.
Chichester continued to pile on the pressure. A good pass from Mikki Collins found Gaby Hobday and her shot from the edge of the 18-yard box curled away from goal.
M.Bond went close again for the home side. This time she almost scored directly from a corner as the ball bounced off the top of the crossbar and out of play.
A short pass from the Bournemouth defender allowed M.Bond to poke a shot towards goal that went narrowly wide.
Tegan Andrade-Paris and Collins linked up well defensively to stop the Bournemouth attack and keep the game level.
More defending was required from Chi. This time it was Mottashed and Charlotte Long who both did well on the right.
The visitors had a chance just before the half-time whistle as the attacker beat three Chichester defenders, but Tatyana Blackman was out well to close her down and make the save.
The second half started with very few chances for either side as they both looked to keep possession.
Just after the hour mark, a Bournemouth free-kick into a dangerous area of the Chi box was pushed away by Blackman.
Chi made their first sub on 63 minutes as Williams replaced Maya Butler. Five minutes later, Williams found Hobday, but she was prevented from getting a shot away in a good position by the opposition defender.
The Chichester defence was caught out by a long kick from the Bournemouth goalkeeper and the attacker almost latched on to the ball, but Blackman was out quickly to claim it.
Just as Williams looked to be through on goal on 75 minutes, she was denied by a last-ditch tackle.
Six minutes before the full-time whistle, Mottashed cut the ball back towards the centre of the penalty area to M.Bond who saw her shot saved. Hobday then got to the loose ball first and fired a shot towards goal that was also saved.
Chichester had one final chance in the closing stages when M.Bond saw her shot crash off the crossbar.
The full-time whistle was blown, and the game was to be decided by a penalty shootout.
Both sides scored their first three penalties. However, Williams stepped up to take Chichester’s fourth and saw her attempt saved. The Cherries scored their fourth and took the lead in the shootout. Mottashed was up next to take Chi’s fifth penalty and it was saved which meant AFC Bournemouth Development won the penalty shootout and progressed to the final of the Chairman’s Cup.
