Chi made one change to the starting XI that faced the Rebels at Oaklands Park on Saturday in the 2-2 draw. Kieran Magee lined up between the sticks alongside full backs Emmett Dunn, skipper Rob Hutchings and centre backs Curtis Da Costa and Ben Pashley. Midfield featured Joe Moore, Lloyd Rowlatt, Joe Clarke, Mo Jammeh and Ethan Prichard, who scored that wonder last-gasp equaliser in the first encounter, with Jimmy Wild up top.
The hosts pressed with intent in the opening couple of minutes and both Pashley and Moore had crosses to clear.
Then Da Costa blocked and Prichard won Chi a free kick just outside the Slough penalty area.
Gary Abisogun tried his luck from some way out in the fifth minute but it didn’t really trouble Magee before Wild hit the post after a mistake from the home side.
Next, Jammeh and Prichard hooked up for a delivery that was headed out by player-manager Scott Davies for a corner which was shepherded away for a Chi throw.
Another long ball led to Pashley conceding a corner which fell to Abisogun who turned in the box and steered home the opener.
And it was 2-0 in the 13th minute after Dunn gave away a set piece in a dangerous area and Jeanmal Prosper’s free header found the back of the net.
A long Davies set-piece almost caught Magee out before Hutchings was beaten down the right and Sam Evans headed over.
Abisogun, twisting this way and that, did Hutchings again and shot off target.
The Chi captain went on a defence splitting run but the final ball to Wild was bit too strong and then the Berkshire team posed a threat with a cross and a corner kick.
The visitors won three of their own on the bounce the last of which was headed in but ruled out for a handball for which Clarke was booked.
John Ufuah rattled the post at the midpoint after Hutchings, Prichard and Jammeh linked up for a Clarke hit.
Magee then gave the ball away to Dan Roth. The Rebels earned a corner and Abisogun lifted one over.
Prichard played a lovely ball in on the half hour mark as Chi looked to get back into things and at the other end Ufuah shot well off after a decent turn.
Five minutes later Abisogun intercepted a Rowlatt pass, drove on and swept a shot just wide.
Slough then appealed for a penalty on John Gilbert, which was denied, and Magee pulled off a brilliant reflex save for a corner that the away side headed clear.
Ufuah blazed over before winning a corner and Chi won one of their own which came to nothing.
Da Costa and Pashley tidied up as Evans pressed and a burst of pace on the stroke of half time by Prichard led to a cross that was too deep.
Neither side made any substitutions at the break.
Davies’ long ball on 47 was a bit too firm and an Ufuah delivery was dealt with by Magee smartly.
Super skill from Wild teed Clarke up for an effort he hit high and wide before the Chi No9 headed on cleverly for Jammeh whose first touch let him down.
Moore’s tackle was excellent; Evans made a nuisance of himself; and Abisogun did the defence only for a poor cross to cause few problems.
Chichester had to contend with the two Slough players once more and Evans was flagged offside.
The visitors rang the changes on the hour with Billie Clark and Isaac Bello coming on for Prichard and Jammeh.
Clark’s first contribution was a probing run into the box in a move that ultimately fizzled out.
Then Dunn did well to get the ball back to Magee who cleared of sorts moments later.
A free kick was comfortable enough for the Chi stopper before Hutchings, Wild and Clark combined but the ball got deflected to Charlie Horlock in the Slough goal.
Good body strength from Dunn helped shepherd things out for a goal kick and a Pashley slip resulted in Abisogun ballooning over.
John Gilbert’s break down the left wing led to a shot which was blocked before hopeful handball appeals led to a bit of shush.
Neat skill from Hutchings won Chichester a corner with 15 of normal time to go.
Next, Wild thrashed a shot on to the bar either side of two more Chi substitutions as Ryan Davidson and Olly Munt entered the fray.
Gilbert fizzed one wide on 77 when the hosts attacked and Wild found Clark who was finally dispossessed.
The home side broke again but no one got to a dangerous cross and Clark sent a shot on the turn over as the clock ticked down.
Moore pulled one back with a super goal in the 89th minute.
The officials signalled five minutes of additional time but Slough dug in on this occasion to see things out.
Next up for Chi is an away trip in the league to Wingate & Finchley on Saturday 21st September (Kick Off 3pm).
