There were three changes for Miles Rutherford & Co’s starting XI that drew 1-1 away to Wingate & Finchley in the league last time out. Kieran Magee lined up at No1 with Ryan Davidson, captain Rob Hutchings and centre backs Curtis Da Costa and Emmett Dunn instead of regular Ben Pashley in the heart of the defence. Joe Clarke, Mo Jammeh and Billie Clark came into midfield alongside Joe Moore and Bello with Wild up top.

The visitors started the stronger of the two teams in the opening five minutes. Wild headed a corner clear and the ball fell to Eze Ebuzoeme 11 whose effort ricocheted off a Chi player for another which came to nothing.

A slip by Da Costa led to an Invicta chance on 7 and the impressive Ebuzoeme fired a second shot over the bar.

He got beaten to the ball however by Magee moments later before Jammeh nearly got Wild in but goalie Jonathan Henly conceded a throw.

Then Clarke gave his fellow midfielder an opportunity to just hit it and Wild looped one over the crossbar and keeper in the next Chi attack.

A ball from the back was too long for Ebuzoeme and after Hutchings battled fiercely Magee prevented a possible corner.

Hutchings played safely back to his shot-stopper in the 15th minute and Clark and Wild hooked up with the left back before a second Da Costa mistake allowed the away team to break once more.

A long Bello throw was diverted to Jammeh who had a go from some way out but Henly gathered and then Chi cleared their lines as No11 Khale Da Costa broke.

Wild shot across goal from a tight angle at the mid-point and then lost out to Ebuzoeme before Daniel Smith went into Mr Barclay’s notepad.

Invicta’s Da Costa cut inside but Smith was flagged offside before Magee pulled off a spectacular reflex save to deny a firm header after Abouhadie Evans Kouassi crossed.

The Folkestone player then shot just over before the away side broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Amadou Kassarate picked out centre forward Smith who slotted the ball past Magee.

Bello almost got in after a nice Chi flick on and Da Costa made a super block with Smith nearly free.

Hutchings got caught by Kassarate for aother booking on 41 and as the clock ticked down towards half time a cross from the left got cleared and Magee collected ahead of Ebuzoeme.

Neither side made any changes at the break and Jammeh found Wild two minutes in but he couldn’t tuck the ball away this time.

Kouassi struck one well wide as the Kent side threatened again and a Hutchings’ free kick was turned out by Wild.

The visitors probed but were caught offside twice and Clark found Hutchings but the final ball wasn’t any good.

Jammeh broke up a press on 53 and Hutchings tried his luck after a Bello long throw.

Then Kouassi pulled a decent save out of Magee for a corner which Frankie Morgan took and the custodian held easily enough.

Smith swung and missed on the hour; Da Costa cleared; and Clarke had a go with a long-ranger.

Smith headed away a Hutchings set piece before Worthing loanee Finlay Chadwick, Ethan Prichard and Lloyd Rowlatt were introduced in a triple substitution for Clark and the two Joes.

Magee pulled off a fine one-handed save to deny Smith a second goal and sub Matthias Fanimo took the resulting corner.

Folkestone’s recent signing then had an attempt collected by Magee before Chi went long and the prolific Wild equalised, smashing the ball home in the 73rd minute.

A deep Invicta corner got steered out for another which Magee gathered this time before Rowlatt and Wild played a neat one-two and Chi rebuilt down the left.

Jammeh’s pass towards Dunn was too long and after a decent move Wild lost the ball following good stuff from Chadwick.

The Oaklands Park new signing then got well in but Mr Barclay awarded a set-piece.

A decent exchange between Jammeh and Prichard resulted in a blocked shot from some way off before the two Chi players forced Marvel Ekpiteta to give away a throw.

Bello delivered this and Davidson headed wide as we approached time added on.

A brilliant Rowlatt tackle led to Wild finding Bello with a super pass on 92 who finished clinically to grab Chi three points.

How that particular minute has been significant in the last few games!

Two weeks ago, it was a late Ethan Prichard wonder-goal then that earned Chichester an FA Cup replay against Slough, and Wingate & Finchley equalised in exactly the same minute of the match in our previous encounter.

Magee gathered again in the last couple and Folkestone sub Jack Jebb’s shot on the turn went high and wide.

Chi welcome seventh spot Dulwich Hamlet who are one place above them in the league to Oaklands Park next on Tuesday 1st October (Kick Off 7:45pm) before facing old foes Herne Bay, also at home, in the FA Trophy on Saturday 5th October (Kick Off 3pm).
