Miles Rutherford & Co made three changes to the starting XI that beat Folkestone Invicta 2-1 at home last time out. Kieran Magee lined up in goal with defenders Ryan Davidson, Rob Hutchings and Emmett Dunn, partnered by Ben Pashley who returned to the team. Worthing loanee Finlay Chadwick joined Joe Clarke, Mo Jammeh, Isaac Bello and Lloyd Rowlatt in midfield to support Jimmy Wild up top.
Skipper Hutchings had to head back to keeper Magee as the London visitors started brightly in the first minute.
Louis Ramsay’s throw was then hit cross field by Michael Chambers for Luke Wanadio to deliver but his cross went out for a goal kick.
Next, the ball ricocheted off Hamlet striker Oli Lynch for another before Wanadio found Lynch on loan from Luton who missed at close range.
Jammeh got tackled by Ramsay for a set piece as Rowlatt tried to pick Wild.
Then Dunn had to deal with a diag and Jammeh and Rowlatt hooked up for an effort that was off target.
A neat back heel from Rowlatt to Hutchings won Chi a throw which led to a corner that Rowlatt took.
Bello’s long throw forced an opportunity for the hosts in the 14th minute and at the other end Magee saved as Mark Marshall threatened.
A super touch from Bello meant he found Wild who crossed into the danger area and a Davidson slip almost got Lynch in but Pashley covered brilliantly.
Lynch was flagged offside at the midpoint before a lovely Hutchings’ cross needed Wild to just get a connection.
As the game switched from end to end Magee had to stop a Wanadio long-ranger and the same Hamlet player and Lynch couldn’t beat Dunn.
The Canadian then did well to block a Wanadio cross and referee Mr Thomas Farr overlooked a handball by the away side.
Wild’s fierce shot looked to be sneaking inside the post but Jameson Horlick got a glove on it and conceded a corner that Hutchings took.
A clever one-two between Bello and Wild resulted in a Rowlatt hit which Horlick again saved with Wild trying to follow up.
Davidson was well in on the half hour mark and Bello launched another long throw which was cleared.
Wanadio then picked Lynch who headed over and at the Archery end Dunn’s cross teed up Wild but he couldn’t get a decent connection.
Davidson tackled captain Ralfi Hand effectively before the influential Wanadio flashed one wide.
Both Pashley and Rowlatt got fouled as we headed into the last five minutes.
The resulting free kick was cleared for a Chi corner which along with another set piece was eventually smothered away.
On the stroke of half time Bello caused a spot of bother with a super cross before being fouled by Ramsay for a booking.
There were no substitutions at the break and Bello pressure forced another throw which he launched into the box.
A delightful cross from Max Hudson resulted in a Hamlet attempt that wasn’t far off.
Rowlatt, Bello and Dunn then combined for a delivery which was turned out by Horlick for a corner.
Midfielders Rowlatt and Bello hooked up again moments later for a fierce shot and on 53 Magee had to have his wits about him to deny Hand.
His counterpart saved from Wild at the other end after a good move and the visitors won a corner that was played short and the backline steered away the final ball in.
Magee did well with his feet when Ramsay delivered and Jammeh was upended – no card according to Mr Farr.
Wild then flicked on to Rowlatt who got flagged offside and just after the hour an almighty scramble in the Dulwich penalty area led to chance after chance after chance which the away side somehow repelled.
Next, Jammeh tried his luck from distance and Horlick gloved away a Rowlatt corner after good work from Jammeh and Hutchings down the left.
Lynch’s effort was easy enough for Magee on 66 before Dunn’s go skewed off a defender for a corner.
Jammeh then struck one well off target and a Jammeh cross deflected off a Dulwich player for a corner kick that Wild headed wide.
Marshall was replaced by Lorenzo Lewis as we entered the last 15 who was booked for a foul on Hutchings after Wanadio took a dive at the opposite end.
Rowlatt, uncharacteristically, hit the resulting set piece well over.
Then Wild forged an opportunity but headed wide and Chi introduced Billie Clark and Ethan Prichard for Rowlatt and Jammeh.
Clarke was booked for an infringement as was Wynter for a foul on Bello.
Wild almost found Prichard late on before the sub impressively broke things up as Hamlet pressed.
Prichard hit a similar shot on the turn in the spot he equalised from a couple of weeks ago against Slough Town in the FA Cup but it went narrowly wide this time.
And an entertaining game came to an end after three minutes added without further incident.
The valuable point sends Chi up to seventh in the table.
They welcome Herne Bay next in the FA Trophy on Saturday 5th October (Kick Off 3pm) before facing Horsham, also at Oaklands Park, in the County Cup on Tuesday 8th October (Kick Off 7:30pm).
