Miles Rutherford, Dabba, Danny Potter & H made two changes to the starting XI that lost 2-0 at Dartford last time out with Lloyd Rowlatt coming into midfield and Lewis Rustell beginning up top. Jamie Horncastle accompanied Ben Pashley at centre back and Dunn and skipper Rob Hutchings lined up in defence on the flanks either side of keeper Kieran Magee. Joe Moore, Joe Clarke, Isaac Bello once again started in the middle of the park, with Theo Bennetts, Olly Munt, Curtis Da Costa, Misha Djemaili and youngster Freddie Sarson on the bench.

The home side lost 3-2 dramatically away against the Blues in the FA Trophy five years ago after going 2-0 up through Gicu Iordache and Corey Heath in the opening five minutes only to relinquish this lead and lose to an agonising 93rd minute winner.

Here, on a very wet Saturday afternoon, Rowlatt was well in sixty seconds in before right back Reid’s pass was too long and gathered simply enough by Magee.

Then Bello lost the ball following a jinking run into the box and Benas Vaivada was flagged offside.

On five minutes Rowlatt had a shot saved by Melvin Minter before the mercurial midfielder teed Dunn up for the Canadian’s third goal in all competitions this campaign.

Next, a clever pass from Moore got Rustell in but he lost it and on nine minutes Dunn won Chichester a throw.

Ogunleye was adjudged offside this time in the following attack and Romel Royal made a towering header to clear a Chi move.

Hutchings and Ogunleye collided for some physio attention and Kymani Thomas pulled a stop out of Magee.

In the 14th minute Hutchings’ decent delivery was steered out for the hosts’ first corner that the captain took too deep.

The visitors earned one of their own on 17 which Max Hudson sent over and Hutchings impressively blocked the resulting effort from Brentwood skipper Charlie Edwards.

His counterpart had a shot/cross moments later that was off-target and Dunn headed away a Blues throw-in without any trouble.

Horncastle tackled superbly and conceded a corner that got hooked away before the away team blazed over the bar and Vaivada crashed one into Magee’s side-netting.

Bello pulled an attempt wide of the mark as we neared the half hour point and Clarke struck a fierce hit against the woodwork before Dunn’s shot lifted over the frame of the goal.

Rowlatt and Hutchings then combined with a smart flick by Rowlatt to Clarke and Rustell needed to be stronger to shield the ball on 31.

And with 11 minutes to half time a great finish by Reid levelled things up at 1-1 beyond the hapless Magee.

Clarke then tackled Vaivada firmly but fairly and Rustell lost the ball again after a flowing move involving Pashley, Dunn and Rowlatt.

A dodgy tackle from behind from one of the Brentwood players went unpunished in the 39th minute and Horncastle almost turned the ball into his own net at the Tennis Club end as he gave away a corner which Hudson delivered.

Next, Thomas wasted an opportunity and Vaivada earned his team a corner ahead of the break.

There were no substitutions for both sides at half time and on 46 Clarke had a shot of sorts after good work from Rowlatt before Bello got flagged marginally offside.

And then the Chi No7’s cross was headed out for a corner which Hutchings as usual delivered and Jammeh fired one high over the bar.

Next, Jammeh somehow put the hosts 2-1 in front after a Minter mistake in the 52nd minute before at the other end Magee claimed Hudson’s shot at the second time of asking.

Bello’s run opened the visitors up but he should have slid the ball to Rustell who was free and the City midfielder one-twoed with Dunn only for the final ball to go out for a Blues’ goal kick.

Clarke hit one over the cross bar and at the Archery End Magee saved after Chi overplayed at the back on the hour mark.

Hughes replaced Thomas on 62 and Reid got booked for a nasty foul on Bello before Djemaili came on in instead of Rustell as City rolled the dice.

It might have been 3-1 when Bello hit the upright following a clever Hutchings’ cross and Minter collected easily in the 69th minute.

Ogunleye scored his first 60 seconds later for parity after the ball bounced around in the Chichester penalty area and Bello went down for some lengthy treatment with 15 of normal time to go.

Munt came on for Jammeh as Chichester rejigged and hit the woodwork as the hosts sought to get back in front before smacking a Rowlatt pass wide.

A Magee error gifted Brentwood the lead through Ogunleye again with just two minutes of the 90 left and Bennetts replaced Horncastle.

George Holley was cautioned late on before sub Hughes from close range increased the visitors’ advantage as Chichester imploded.

And it was 5-2 in the seventh minute of additional time as Keith Rowland’s side sealed it to condemn Chi to their heaviest defeat of this campaign.

Rutherford’s men face another stiff test next weekend when they are in Kent at league leaders Folkestone Invicta on Saturday 29th November (Kick Off 3pm).

Chichester – Magee, Dunn, Hutchings, Moore, Horncastle, Pashley, Bello, Clarke, Jammeh, Rowlatt, Rustell, (Bennetts, Da Costa, Munt, Djemaili, Sarson).
