The FA has announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic steps 3 to 6 will come to an end with immediate effect and all records expunged.

As a result, there will be no promotion or relegation of clubs and the planned implementation of the restructure of the leagues will be deferred until the start of the 2021/22 season.

Read the full statement on the FA website.

From a club perspective it halts the considerable push the team was making for the Isthmian League South East Division play-offs, the decision coming with Chi sitting in sixth position with a minimum of three games in hand on the teams currently in the play-off places and on a run of five wins from their last six games.

However, we’re all well aware that football is currently down on the list of priorities with the world united to fight the spread of the Coronavirus. We accept the FA’s decision and look forward to football returning when it’s safe to do so.

Although it will go down in the history books as null and void the 2019/20 season was a memorable one for Chichester City Football Club for many reasons.

We’d like to thank all the players, management, volunteers and supporters for their collective effort this season and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can.

Up the Chi.
