Dabba & Co were without Mo Jammeh, Ben Pashley, Jack Farrier and Isaac Bello so started Kieran Magee between the sticks, skipper Rob Hutchings and Trialist A at left and right back alongside Ryan Davidson and Trialist B in the middle of the defence. Joe Moore returned in the centre of the park behind Trialist C, Olly Munt and new boy Bertie McDonald with Billy Vigar and Lewis Rustell up top.

The first trialist got dispossessed early doors but a teammate cleared easily enough in the opening minute.

The visitors, who lost this fixture last year 7-3 when Emmett Dunn, Jimmy Wild, Joe Clarke, Olly Munt, Josh Clack were all on target and the Dorset outfit conceded a couple of own goals too, hooked away a decent cross 120 seconds later before another forward pass was headed out for a Chi throw.

The hosts then earned a first, but not the last, corner on four minutes which Hutchings whipped over for Davidson to head on and Rustell tried to pull off an outrageous backheel.

Trialist B hit a forward pass too long and it rolled out for a goal kick and things got a bit quite for the next five minutes or so.

Next, Davidson got done by the Church striker who pulled his attempt wide of the mark on 14.

Then Hutchings tried to find Vigar with a threatening delivery before nice stuff from Munt instigated a clever move involving McDonald and the Chichester captain but the final pass was poor.

Neat play from Trialist B saw him pick out Vigar and next Munt had a shot of sorts following a ball from one of the Chi central defenders.

A home side move fizzled out in the 18th minute and McDonald dragged an opportunity wide.

At the mid-point Hutchings fizzed over a lovely cross that deserved some end product.

The visitors’ cut the ball back on 23 although their No8 couldn’t get his shot off and Trialist B pushed the Christchurch centre forward for a free-kick that was headed away.

Rustell spurned a chance to shoot first time and Moore conceded a needless set-piece but subsequently Church’s striker strayed offside.

Moore’s timely interception created a patient Lillywhites’ break before Davidson might have given away a spot kick.

On the half hour Rustell had a shot on the turn which was deflected for a Chi corner that Hutchings took only for the ball to be steered away without any trouble.

The following corner kick by Hutchings was by way of contrast too long in the 35th minute and Trialist B cleared as the away team attacked down the left flank.

Vigar produced a rather weak header without any real direction when the hosts threatened once again before another corner resulted in a shot which was blazed over.

A good tackle and then a crude one from Davidson rightly ended in a free-kick for the visitors that came to nothing and a burst of pace by Davidson broke up a slick break down the left wing on the stroke of half-time.

Flo Vicaj, Lloyd Rowlatt, Clarke, Dunn and Prichard were all introduced at the interval with Davidson and Trialist B moving to right back and centre-mid respectively.

Munt nearly got in after barely a minute of the second period and Prichard almost outstripped No15.

The Chi sub was then caught unfairly by a midfielder and he hit his set-piece over the woodwork.

On 51 Rowlatt was fouled on the edge of the box and Prichard found the back of the net with the consequent free-kick with a delightful finish.

Next, Rowlatt smacked a shot over the bar; Clarke thumped one into the keeper’s gloves; and at the Archery End the away team won a corner off a wicked deflection which Trialist B finally hacked away.

A sublime cross from Dunn teed Trialist D up for a chance that he failed to capitalise on before Clarke’s pass was cut out by No16.

Rustell and McDonald both returned on 63 and then Rustell did well to keep the ball in and earn a corner which Rowlatt sent over with Chi players queuing up.

The subsequent one by Prichard almost picked Vicaj who ultimately couldn’t get a final touch.

Rowlatt failed to shoot in the 68th minute and lifted one over the frame of the goal following a sweet turn from Prichard.

The Chi player then cut inside only for the opposition’s goalie to gather simply enough.

Magee found Prichard with a lovely kick as we entered the last 10 minutes and nice feet from McDonald allowed him to dance through a couple of players and win a set-piece that Prichard hit high.

And the final move of the match led to a Dunn cross being intercepted.
